Refund Policy

How refunds work

Donations made through GoodChange go directly to the Organization you chose to support. Refund decisions — whether to issue one, and for how much — are made by that Organization’s staff, since they’re the ones receiving the funds. GoodChange processes the refund through our payment processor, Stripe, once a Organization approves it.

Requesting a refund

If you made a donation in error, or need to request a refund for any other reason, you can:

  • Reply to your donation receipt email, which routes to the Organization you gave to.
  • Contact GoodChange support at support@goodchange.app with your donation confirmation and the reason for the request, and we’ll route it to the Organization for review.

Timeline

Approved refunds are issued back to your original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer’s processing time.

Refunds required by law

Some refunds aren’t optional. If a contribution exceeds a legal contribution limit, comes from a prohibited source, or otherwise can’t lawfully be accepted, the Organization is required to refund it —GoodChange’s compliance tools are built to flag these cases so an Organization can act on them promptly.

Recurring donations

Refunds only apply to charges that have already been made. If you have a recurring donation, membership, or subscription and want to stop future charges, you can pause or cancel it at any time from your contributor dashboard — this takes effect immediately and prevents the next scheduled charge, but doesn’t retroactively refund past ones.
